Africa has a rich history of gold mining and many informal artisanal, and small scale miners still rely on gold panning to recover gold to make a living. For hobbyists, there are many streams and rivers in South Africa and Africa that bear fine gold and gold panning is ideal for extracting the gold.
Gold panning is the process gold prospectors use to recover gold from streams and rivers. Water is used to separate heavy gold particles from lighter sediment by swirling a gold pan containing water and paydirt in a circular motion. Denser gold particles remain at the bottom of the pan as lighter sediment and water is ejected out of the pan. Repeating this process a few times the remaining gold will start to show at the bottom of the pan at which time the miner can recover the gold.
If you are a gold prospector, gold miner, artisanal gold miner or hobbyist looking to try your hand at gold panning, then we highly recommend the BIG John range of Gold Pans designed for gold mining in Africa.
